Hinweis des Autors

FaberSansPro Kraeftig Kursiv by Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFont Augsburg is a free italic sans serif with a sharply forward stance. Broad capitals combine clean, open shapes with pronounced changes in stroke width, generous inner space, and a particularly lively, sweeping motion. Long angled strokes and clipped ends keep the design crisp even as the forms lean decisively to the right across the line.

Used as an energetic editorial voice, the font suits magazine features, arts posters, cultural event programs, and fashion branding, where its slanted forms can suggest speed or confident movement. Magazine cover lines are its most convincing role.

Faber Sans Pro consists of two typefaces: a standard sans serif and a stylistic alternate with characters based on uncial scripts.

The original sans serif, “Faber Eins & Zwei,” was developed in 1996 and gained popularity over the years, particularly in Anglo-Saxon countries. It was fundamentally revised in 2010 and updated for current font technology.

The basic typeface is a classic-modern sans serif influenced by early twentieth-century typefaces, including Futura by Paul Renner and Gill Sans by Eric Gill. Roman Capitalis provided the model for the capital letters, while the lowercase letters are based on humanistic minuscule forms.

The stylistic alternates for the letters a, e, f, g, l, t, and u are based on uncial scripts from late antiquity or the early Middle Ages. The alternate r also has a pointed form. OpenType technology combines both typefaces in one font. The stylistic alternates can be accessed through Discretionary Ligatures, Stylistic Alternates, or the glyph panel.

Faber Sans Pro includes a true italic. Its italic characters are based on handwriting styles rather than simply being slanted versions of the upright characters. The italic forms are rounder, with a more fluid stroke flow, and the letters a and g have distinct handwritten designs.

The fonts are available for free download from ingoFonts. The downloadable files contain a reduced character set consisting only of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z.

The complete font, including numerals, umlauts, punctuation, and ligatures, is available only with a paid order.
