Hinweis des Autors

Faber Sans Pro Fett by Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFont Augsburg is a free decorative display font with massive, tightly packed lettering. Circular cutouts sharpen its playful geometry.

The oversized forms suit children's entertainment and music posters, yet their crisp edges also fit streetwear packaging and event merchandise with a louder urban attitude. Round openings and abrupt changes in width turn the lettering into a recognizable brand device, especially for products or venues built around humor, nightlife, or youth culture.

Faber Sans Pro combines two typefaces: a classic-modern sans serif and stylistic alternates based on uncial script.

The sans serif “Faber Eins & Zwei” originated in 1996 and was revised in 2010. The basic typeface reflects early twentieth-century sans serif design, with Futura by Paul Renner and Gill Sans by Eric Gill as references. Roman Capitalis influenced the proportions of the capital letters, while the lowercase characters are based on humanistic minuscule forms.

The second typeface consists of stylistic alternates for the letters a, e, f, g, l, t, and u, based on uncial scripts from late antiquity and the early Middle Ages. OpenType technology combines both typefaces in one font. The stylistic alternates are available through Discretionary Ligatures, Stylistic Alternates, or the glyph panel.

Faber Sans Pro includes a true italic. Its italic characters are based on handwriting styles rather than simply slanted versions of the upright characters. They are rounder and have a more fluid stroke flow, with distinct handwritten designs particularly noticeable in a and g.

All fonts from ingoFonts are available as free downloads. The downloadable files contain a reduced version with only uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z. The complete font, including numerals, umlauts, punctuation, and ligatures, is available only by order and payment.
