Hinweis des Autors

Faber Sans Pro Halbfett Kursiv by Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFont Augsburg is a free italic sans serif with assertive, forward-leaning forms. Stroke widths shift noticeably across the letters. Sharp joins and tapered ends give the broad lettering a brisk, cut-paper look.

Designers working in fashion, music, or contemporary culture can use it for magazine covers, event posters, and brand campaigns. Its slant and angular detailing link those applications through a shared sense of speed and editorial confidence.

Faber Sans Pro combines two typefaces: a classic-modern sans serif in a standard form and a stylistic alternate form with characters based on uncial scripts.

The idea for the original sans serif, “Faber Eins & Zwei,” originated in 1996. In 2010, the typeface was extensively revised and updated to current font technology.

The basic typeface is a classic-modern sans serif influenced by early twentieth-century typefaces such as Futura by Paul Renner and Gill Sans by Eric Gill. Roman Capitalis influenced the proportions of the capital letters, while the lowercase letters are based on humanistic minuscule forms.

The stylistic alternate form includes alternate designs for a, e, f, g, l, t, and u based on uncial scripts from late antiquity and the early Middle Ages. The alternate r has a pointed form. OpenType technology combines both typefaces in one font. The stylistic alternates can be accessed through Discretionary Ligatures, Stylistic Alternates, or the glyph panel.

Faber Sans Pro includes a true italic. Its italic characters are based on handwriting styles rather than simply being slanted versions of the upright characters. Some italic letters, particularly a and g, have distinct handwriting-derived designs.

All ingoFonts fonts can be downloaded free of charge. The downloadable files contain only a reduced font consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z.

The complete font, including numerals, umlauts, punctuation, and ligatures, is available only after placing an order and making payment.
