Antikythera Expanded Schriftart

Antikythera Expanded, created in 2012 by Iconian Fonts, is a free Greek-inspired display font with broad capitals. Its heavy shapes are cut by sharp notches, triangular openings, and abrupt diagonal joints. Repeated wedge forms give the lettering a carved, mechanical edge.

A science-fiction poster can use these severe silhouettes to suggest a machine or coded artifact. The same angular construction suits game title cards, electronic music packaging, and event graphics built around technology or mythology. A title font named after the Antikythera mechanism, discovered off the coast of a Greek island several decades ago. The device was a calculation instrument with engineering that preceded its time by centuries. Historians consider it the first computer, and no device with similar functionality and engineering appeared again for several centuries.
