MoonbeamsKatakana, designed by Youki Nemoto of smegANDsynaps Inc., is a free Japanese katakana display font with a spare, geometric build and unusually open proportions. Its mostly even strokes form open, angular signs, softened by broad curves and slight changes in line weight that keep the lettering from looking mechanically rigid.

As a title treatment, it can give technology posters, electronic music artwork, and game interfaces the clean look of schematic symbols, with each letter reading as both language and graphic shape. Its measured forms also suit Japanese branding and minimalist product packaging.
