Frank Black Schriftart

Frank Black is a free eroded serif display font built from rough, ink-starved letterforms, uneven slab-like serifs, and a distinctly worn, ink-stamped silhouette. The changing stroke widths, broken edges, and small white flecks make the letters resemble battered type pulled from an old hand-operated press with years of heavy use.

Its photocopied punk and underground publishing character suits gig posters, album packaging, magazine covers, and apparel graphics, especially when the lettering can double as part of the printed texture. It speaks most directly to independent labels, bands, and alternative publishers.

This font is based on the lettering used in the logo for Chris Carter’s Millennium Series. It is not a one-to-one copy of the original lettering, but a variation of it. This is the creator’s first self-made font.
