Bluelmin Kisaburo Schriftart

Bluelmin Kisaburo by Paulo W. is a free brush script with an ink-loaded sweep. Broad downstrokes break into sharp hooks and thin, fast joins, giving the letters an uneven line. Tall forms rise dramatically above the smaller letters.

It turns brand names into painted signatures for fashion labels and album artwork. Abrupt changes in weight also suit concert posters, where the lettering can become part of the graphic. Its more intimate side fits invitations and personal stationery.

Bluelmin Kisaburo is based on the work of Charles Bluemlein, a penman and calligrapher best known for producing script alphabets for the Higgins Ink Company of Brooklyn, New York. These scripts were published in Script and Manuscript Lettering in the 1940s.

Bluemlein was one of the last members of the North American penmanship tradition’s golden era. Although the original name was Bluemlein, I chose Bluelmin as the name for this series of fonts.

The OpenType version includes fifteen additional glyphs accessible through OpenType features in most software.
