Blackout Sunrise, designed by Tyler Finck, is a free outlined display font with towering caps and a loose, hand-drawn edge. Very narrow inner spaces, broad curves, and visibly changing stroke widths keep the oversized letters lively and slightly unruly.
Photographs and bold flat color fields can show through the open letters, turning the type into part of the image on album covers, T-shirts, and festival posters. The exaggerated height and informal drawing also fit the independent music scene and its youthful, DIY outlook.
