Barnes Erc, designed by Eric Wiryanata in 2008, is a free cartoon display font with hefty, hand-cut capitals. Its uneven outlines and shifting stroke widths make the lettering look drawn with a thick marker. The forms are blunt and cheerfully awkward.

Children's comedy and offbeat entertainment are its clearest territory, especially for posters and game graphics. The chunky silhouettes also suit snack packaging and merchandise built around goofy illustrated mascots. In publishing, it can make a children's book cover part of the illustration by echoing rough, lively artwork.

When Caps Lock is enabled, the font displays an alternate variation using capitals and small capitals. No other glyphs are included.

The name is taken from Kevin Barnes of Of Montreal.
